SACRO origins

SACRO is the acronym for the South African Community Radio Organization

 

SACRO was the brainchild of Takalane Nemangowe and Trevor La Grange, who first discussed the formation of SACRO on 11 May 2018 at the Wimpy in Sandton City

SACRO was registered with the CIPC as a NPC (Non Profit Company) on 28 June 2018

What SACRO is all about

  1. Assist its members and the sector to reduce operating costs
  2. Assist its members and the sector to obtain advertising contracts
  3. Assist its members and the sector with MDDA and other funding applications
  4. Assist its members and the sector with appropriate training interventions
  5. Assist its members and the sector with legal/regulatory/compliance issues
  6. Represent and promote the interests of its members and of the sector at industry forums
  7. Develop a technical support structure that will service the ICT needs of its members and of the sector on a non-profit basis
  8. Keep its members and the sector up to date with technological trends
  9. Assist its members and the sector to become technologically future proof (digital sound broadcasting ready)
